ACENAR HOTMEX/COOLBAR

SUPPER:

Pre-show supper at Acenar on the Riverwalk before Cornyation. Chile Relleno was very good. The batter was almost cake like which gave it a different texture which I liked immensely. Melon mojito pictured as the green drink which was also very good and fresh.

THE PORK EXPLOSION

SUPPER:

Had to make the pork chops, which were scheduled for tomorrow, tonight as they were looking like they needed to be cooked today. Is my fridge running cold enough? It was supposed to be the pork ribs in the spotlight. But I love pork so no matter. Obligatory Okra---yes I love Okra.

RUBY TUESDAY RESTAURANT

SUPPER:

Asian Salmon & Shrimp. I tried to order the Lobster Ravioli but was given a head's up by the waiter that it really is not that good. Took her word for it and had this meal instead. I have to admit it was pretty darn tasty.

Broccoli---I hate broccoli. She forgot I substituted the mushrooms for that foul vegetable. I made her bring my mushrooms even though the broccoli had polluted my plate.

SQUARE FOOT GARDENING

FUTURE FOOD:

This is about a month into my square foot gardening which includes green chile, tomatoes, jalapenos, bell peppers, marigolds. lettuce, onion, cantaloupe, okra, cucumber, squash, carrots, radish and cilantro. Radishes will be my first crop to harvest. I'm so excited to harvest more and incorporate it into my cooking.

THOUSAND OAKS CAFE

BREAKFAST:

I have not had a Machacado Plate in so long. We always drive by this place but it is always closed when we see it. I guess it is only open during breakfast and lunch hours. So today on our way to the farmers market we saw it open and packed so stopped in for a bite. It was good. I recommend it. It is on Austin Hwy in an old Jim's.

MARIE CALLENDER'S

SUPPER:
Add Image
Driving around trying to find a place without a long line of people snaking out the door we happen upon Marie Callenders on I35. Have not been here in a long while so was surprised at some of the changes. It had been modernized with a new interior and new dishes but still I settled on the meatloaf. It was OK but I was hungry so I ate it all. Oh---and the prices had been modernized too---higher!

SWEET TEA W/OUT THE SWEET

SNACK:

No more diabetea for me. First day in shorts this season and first batch of sun tea. Trying this splenda thing. It'll work.

POMEGRANATE JUICE

SNACK:

In college I had to write an essay: what fruit would you be and why! OK---stoopid essay but mine was real good. I was a pomegranate because they are kind of ugly and dirty on the outside. They require skill and patience to get to the inside. You will get messy. But the fruit inside is so worth it. Just like me---get it?

Drinking my Pomegranate Juice I long forget why, but still do it---I guess it's good for me.
