PORK CHOPS WITH SQUASH AND ZUCCHINI

SUPPER:

Had the grill all fired up. Slapped the chops and veggies on the grill. Went to fetch a limb that had fallen off mesquite tree in backyard from the morning storm. Hauled that limb to front yard as it is brush pick-up in my neighborhood. Poured me a Pepsi---all I wanted was a Pepsi. Went to check on the food and I was out of fuel. That's right---out of propane! Had to finish the cooking inside on the cook-top. Boo! Food was still good though! Love me some pork chops!

SONIC DRIVE-IN

MIDNIGHT SNACK:

Blue Coconut Slush.

Mona, where are you Mona? In college we used to make Sonic runs and dear Mona was so much fun. Everyone would pile into the car and head to the only Sonic in town. Then everyone would yell out their own order at the speaker. One day she yelled out "grape slut please". Slushes were always called that after that faux pas.

The atmosphere is great and the decor is special.

When I ordered a Pastel Tres Leches for dessert they were out---boo! It is my goal in life to sample all the Pastel Tres Leches from every restaurant that I can.

As these are DESPERATE TIMES made me some Hamburger Helper today for lunch. Not at all as I remembered it: Salty and full of carbs. Gave the rest to the chow chows. They love me immensely when I give them human food. And times are not as desperate after eating the HH today. Tonight I splurge.

THAI CHILI ORIENTAL RESTAURANT

SUPPER:

Had the happy meal at THAI CHILI---best deal in town: appetizer; soup; entrée and desert. Again had the Phad Woon Sen because it is so good. I think this is the first restaurant that has been featured more than once? I could be wrong.

Wait---last nights Tip Top Cafe might have been the first one featured twice. Ha ha---I need to find new places to eat.

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

TIP TOP CAFE

SUPPER:

What do you crave to eat when you were born a Texan but have moved away to California for some nine odd years? Why chicken fried steak of course! And Tip Top Cafe is probably the best in town. I mean just look at the size of that serving.

Shirley is in town visiting so we took her out tonight and the place was packed; we had to wait outside to get inside to eat. We found out later it was chicken fried steak night so that may have explained how busy it was but I have never been to this restaurant when I didn't have to wait to get in. It's just that good.
